What is risk assessment
Risk assessment is the process where you identify hazards, examine or assess the riskthreat related to that danger, and determine proper ways to remove or control the danger.

In useful terms, a risk assessment is a comprehensive take a look at your workplace to identify those things, situations, processes, etc that may create harm, particularly to people. After identification is made, you assess how likely and serious the risk is, and then decide what procedures must be in area to successfully stop or control the harm from happening. Risk assessments are extremely important as they form an important part of a good occupational health and safety management plan.

The purpose of the risk assessment process is to get rid of a hazard or decrease the level of its risk by adding precautions or control procedures, as needed. By doing so, you have developed a safer and healthier workplace.
